What are types of Penile Implants ?
There are 3 broad types of penile implants available in India. Each is different on the basis of construct, use and cost. Penile implants come in various types, with the three main categories being inflatable implants, malleable implants, and self-contained hydraulic implants. Inflatable implants allow for manual inflation to achieve an erection, while malleable implants maintain a semi-rigid state.
Which penile implants are approved for use in India ?
Currently three malleable implants are FDA Approved in India : Rigicon Rigi 10, Boston Scientific Tactra and Promedon Tube.
The Indian malleable Implant (Version 1.0) also known as the Shah Prosthesis is not approved or registered but is in usage since 25 years.
The Rigicon Rigi 10 H and the Tactra form Boston Scientific are new entrants.
Among inflatable penile prosthesis only Rigicon Infla 10 and AMS 700 are Indian FDA Registered and approved.
There are some unregistered implants available like the Coloplast Titan, Zephyr ZSI and the Promedon Tube which are less popular. Currently 4 companies offer the inflatable penile prosthesis in India. The Infla 10 series from Rigicon. The AMS 700 series by Boston Scientific.
Unregistered variants from Coloplast Titan and Zephyr are also available but are less popular.
Which malleable penile implants are available in India ?

What are inflatable penile implants ?
These are the “Gold Standard” for penile implants. They are inflatable balloon-like rods placed inside the penis with a control button placed inside the scrotum. Once sex is desired, the button is pressed, which fills the balloons, providing a natural erection fit for intercourse and satisfaction. These penile implants are directly imported into India. They come from Rigicon or AMS company.
Is Tactra a good penile implant ?
